The Triminator Hybrid is a commercial continuous feed trimming machine built to process wet, semi dry, and dry material with the same system. Instead of requiring separate machines for different moisture levels, the Hybrid combines variable tumbler speed, adjustable blade speed, six position vacuum control, and adjustable machine tilt so operators can tune the trimming action to each batch.
A single Hybrid processes up to 40 lb/hr wet, 20 lb/hr semi dry, or 15 lb/hr dry. Two machines can also be connected directly through the integrated Tandem Link system, increasing rated throughput to as much as 88 lb/hr wet, 45 lb/hr semi dry, and 35 lb/hr dry.

At the center of the machine is Triminator's factory calibrated Flex Knife system, which maintains contact with the stainless steel helical blade for a clean, scissor like cut without requiring routine blade gap adjustment. The Hybrid also incorporates trim and kief collection, a powerful vacuum system, tool free disassembly, and stainless steel product contact components for easier cleaning.
Wet, Semi Dry & Dry Trimming
The Hybrid is designed to accommodate material across three primary moisture ranges:
- Wet, 18%+: Up to 40 lb/hr
- Semi Dry, 11% to 18%: Up to 20 lb/hr
- Dry, 9% to 11%: Up to 15 lb/hr
This flexibility allows processing strategy to change with harvest timing, drying conditions, or facility workflow without changing trimming platforms.
Triminator's operating guide provides dedicated starting settings for each moisture range, including different tilt, vacuum, tumbler speed, and blade speed recommendations.
Up to 40 lb/hr Wet Throughput
In wet processing applications, a single Hybrid is rated for up to 40 pounds per hour.
The machine's variable tumbler speed and high vacuum capability allow denser, higher moisture material to move efficiently through the cutting chamber while the helical blade and Flex Knife perform the trim.
Triminator's specification sheet also confirms the 40 lb/hr single machine feed rate.
Up to 15 lb/hr Dry Throughput
For dry material between approximately 9% and 11% moisture, a single Hybrid is rated for up to 15 pounds per hour.
Dry trimming typically requires gentler handling, so tumbler speed, vacuum strength, machine tilt, and product dwell time can all be adjusted to reduce unnecessary agitation.
The same machine therefore supports both high throughput wet processing and more controlled dry finishing.
Tandem Processing Up to 88 lb/hr
Two Hybrid machines can be mechanically connected using the integrated Tandem Link system.
No separate rail system is required. One machine is raised using its jack mechanism, aligned with the second machine's tandem locks, lowered into position, and locked together.
In tandem configuration, rated throughput increases to:
- Wet: Up to 88 lb/hr
- Semi Dry: Up to 45 lb/hr
- Dry: Up to 35 lb/hr
Triminator recommends tandem operation on level ground for proper alignment and safe operation.
Flex Knife Cutting System
The Hybrid uses Triminator's Flex Knife system against a stainless steel helical blade.
The flexible bed knife remains in contact with the rotating helical blade, creating a cutting action designed to resemble scissors rather than relying only on friction against the tumbler.
The system is factory calibrated and does not require routine blade adjustments. Triminator specifically highlights this as one of the Hybrid's primary advantages.
Variable Tumbler Speed
Tumbler speed can be adjusted directly from the control panel.
Six indicator LEDs show the selected speed level, while dedicated arrow buttons allow operators to increase or decrease rotation speed.
Slower settings can provide gentler handling for delicate dry material, while higher speeds can increase movement when processing denser wet batches.
Variable Blade Speed
The stainless steel helical blade also has independent speed control.
This lets the operator tune cutting action separately from tumbler movement rather than relying on one fixed machine speed.
Triminator recommends increasing blade speed when material appears under trimmed, giving operators another way to fine tune finished quality.
Six Position Vacuum Control
Vacuum strength is adjusted mechanically through a six position lever.
The bypass is marked from MIN to MAX, allowing operators to modify suction independently of blade and tumbler speed.
More vacuum can help draw leaves toward the cutting system for a tighter trim, while lower vacuum can provide gentler handling for delicate dry material.
The vacuum motor itself does not have electronic speed control; suction is adjusted through the bypass lever.
Adjustable Trimmer Tilt
Product dwell time is controlled in part by the machine's angle.
A flatter machine keeps material in the tumbler longer, while increasing the incline moves material through the trimmer more quickly.
The integrated jacking mechanism allows this angle to be adjusted to balance trim quality and throughput.
This gives operators another mechanical control for dialing in performance to different material conditions.
Integrated Trim & Kief Collection
The Hybrid incorporates a dedicated trim and kief collection system.
For wet trimming, the standard trim bag captures removed plant material.
For dry trimming, both the trim bag and outer kief bag are installed. The inner trim bag collects larger material while the outer bag captures finer airborne kief that would otherwise pass through the normal trim bag.
Triminator's specification sheet identifies the inner bag as 200 micron food safe nylon with the outer bag used for extraction ready kief collection.
Integrated 1.5 HP Vacuum
The Hybrid incorporates its vacuum system directly into the machine rather than requiring a separate remote vacuum assembly.
Triminator lists the machine's motor power at 1.5 HP.
Vacuum strength can then be adjusted mechanically to suit different moisture levels and material densities.
Gear Driven Design
The Hybrid uses a gear driven system rather than traditional belt drive components.
This eliminates belt tensioning and reduces dependence on consumable belt components that can slip, squeal, stretch, or require adjustment during production.
The gear driven components are also designed for straightforward removal during cleaning and maintenance.
Tool Free Disassembly
Major processing components are designed to come apart without tools.
The tumbler lifts out after the hopper, chute, cover, and brush assembly are removed. The vacuum elbow, fan housing, and adjustment assembly can also be removed without tools for cleaning.
This reduces the time required to break down the machine between production runs.
Pressure Washable Components
Most of the Hybrid can be pressure washed after disassembly.
Triminator states that all applicable components except the Power Pack and fan motor assembly can be cleaned using a pressure washer rated up to 1,800 PSI.
The Flex Knife, tumbler, helical blade, vacuum housings, impeller, and other removable components are specifically identified for washdown cleaning.
Removable Power Pack
The Power Pack is designed to lift away from the trimming module for cleaning and maintenance.
Removing the electrical assembly keeps sensitive controls away from washdown areas while giving operators better access to the stainless steel trimming module.
The manual also identifies an integrated hour meter beneath the drive gear that records operating time whenever either the tumbler or helical blade motor is running.
Integrated Safety Systems
The Hybrid includes an emergency stop and lid interlock system.
Pressing the emergency stop immediately shuts down the tumbler, blades, and vacuum system.
The lid contains magnets that allow the machine to verify that the guard is installed. If the lid is removed during operation, the motors shut down and the tumbler chamber illumination changes to red.
Electrical Requirements
The Hybrid operates on 120V, 60 Hz power.
The manual lists a rated current of 16A and specifies that the AC supply cable requires a NEMA 5-20R receptacle. The manufacturer specification sheet lists the overall power requirement as 120V, 20A, which is consistent with using a dedicated 20A circuit for the 16A machine load.
Triminator specifically advises against using an extension cord because voltage drop can increase current draw and potentially overheat the motors or trip breakers.
Operating Conditions
The Hybrid is rated for indoor or covered outdoor operation.
Manufacturer operating limits include an altitude range of 0 to 6,500 ft, an ambient temperature range of 40°F to 105°F, and a maximum relative humidity of 80% at 88°F, decreasing to 50% at 105°F.
Triminator notes that the best trimming results are generally achieved in cooler environments with lower humidity.
Recommended Operating Practices
- Read the complete owner's manual before operating.
- Confirm the electrical circuit meets the 120V, 20A dedicated requirement with a NEMA 5-20R receptacle.
- Do not use an extension cord to power the machine.
- Select starting tilt, vacuum, tumbler speed, and blade speed settings appropriate to the material's moisture range.
- Confirm the lid is properly installed and interlocked before starting the machine.
- Install the appropriate trim and kief bag configuration for wet or dry processing.
- Adjust machine tilt to balance dwell time against desired throughput.
- Keep hands and loose clothing away from the tumbler, blade, and vacuum components during operation.
- Use the emergency stop immediately if an unsafe condition develops.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Disconnect the machine from power before cleaning or disassembly.
- Remove the hopper, chute, cover, and brush assembly, then lift out the tumbler.
- Remove the vacuum elbow, fan housing, and adjustment assembly without tools as needed.
- Lift away the Power Pack before pressure washing the trimming module.
- Pressure wash applicable components at up to 1,800 PSI, excluding the Power Pack and fan motor assembly.
- Allow all components to dry completely before reassembly.
- Empty and inspect trim and kief collection bags regularly.
- Monitor the integrated hour meter to help track maintenance intervals.
