The PhotonTek Digital Lighting Controller is a dual-zone control platform designed to automate compatible PhotonTek LED fixtures across residential, commercial, and multi-room horticultural installations. Using a standard 0–10V control signal, it centralizes light scheduling, intensity adjustment, temperature protection, and simulated sunrise and sunset operation from one compact interface.
The controller features two independent channels, identified as Zone A and Zone B. Each zone can operate up to 50 compatible PhotonTek LED fixtures, allowing one controller to manage as many as 100 fixtures in total. The zones may be assigned to separate rooms, different production stages, or different PhotonTek driver wattages.
Within each zone, connected fixtures must use the same driver power rating. For example, Zone A may control a group of 600W fixtures while Zone B independently controls 465W or 1000W fixtures. This dual-zone architecture provides commercial facilities with greater flexibility than a single-output lighting controller.
Light intensity can be regulated from 10% to 100% in 1% increments, with a separate 0% setting for switching fixtures off. This provides substantially finer adjustment than the fixed output settings supplied with standard manual dimmers.
The controller supports complete 24-hour scheduling with up to six programmed switching or dimming events per zone. Operators can define specific times for fixtures to switch on, change intensity, or turn off, creating a repeatable lighting schedule without daily manual adjustment.
Simulated sunrise and sunset periods can be configured from 0 to 30 minutes. During these transitions, fixture output gradually increases from the minimum dimming level to the selected operating intensity, then reverses before the scheduled lights-off time.
Two included 16-foot temperature probes independently monitor Zone A and Zone B. If ambient temperature exceeds a selected threshold, the controller can automatically reduce fixture output. A second safety threshold can switch the connected fixtures off entirely if the temperature continues to rise.
After a temperature-triggered shutdown, the restart delay can be set from 0 to 30 minutes in five-minute increments. This prevents fixtures from immediately restarting before environmental conditions have stabilized.
The controller retains programmed settings, including time, date, intensity schedules, and temperature parameters, if power is temporarily disconnected. Its front display provides real-time information for both zones, while status LEDs indicate fixture operation, temperature-probe status, automatic dimming, and safety shutdown conditions.
The included control cables connect the controller directly to the first compatible fixture in each zone. Additional fixtures are connected in series using separately available PhotonTek control link cables. The controller is compatible with PhotonTek controllable LED drivers and should not be connected to unsupported equipment.
Compact enough for wall mounting, the controller measures approximately 4.92" × 3.14" × 0.98" and weighs only 9.88 ounces. It is supplied with a universal 100–277V AC power adapter, two temperature probes, two fixture-control cables, and mounting hardware.
The PhotonTek Digital Lighting Controller is backed by a 3-Year Manufacturer Warranty covering qualifying defects in its mechanical and electronic components under normal operating conditions. The manufacturer’s manual confirms its dual-zone configuration, 50-fixture capacity per zone, 1% control accuracy, safety automation, included sensors, and three-year warranty.
Dual-Zone Lighting Control
Zone A and Zone B operate independently from one central interface.
Each zone can control a different room, production stage, or compatible PhotonTek driver wattage, allowing separate schedules, intensity settings, and temperature safeguards.
Controls Up to 100 Fixtures
Each channel supports as many as 50 compatible PhotonTek LED fixtures.
With both channels in operation, a single controller can manage up to 100 fixtures, making it suitable for installations ranging from one light to a large commercial room.
Precision 1% Dimming
Fixture output can be adjusted from 10% to 100% in 1% increments, with 0% used to switch connected fixtures off.
This fine control allows operators to set intensity more precisely than with fixed-position manual dimmers.
24-Hour Light Scheduling
The controller automates fixture switching and intensity changes over a complete 24-hour period.
Each zone supports up to six scheduled switching or dimming events per day, allowing multiple output levels to be programmed into one lighting cycle.
Sunrise & Sunset Simulation
A gradual rise and set period can be configured from 0 to 30 minutes.
Output increases progressively at the beginning of the lighting cycle and decreases before shutoff, creating a controlled transition rather than immediate full-power switching.
Temperature Safety Dimming
Each zone includes an independent temperature sensor and configurable safety-dimming threshold.
When ambient temperature rises above the selected level, the controller automatically reduces fixture output to help limit additional heat generation.
Automatic Safety Shutdown
A second temperature threshold can automatically switch fixtures off if environmental temperatures continue to rise.
This provides an additional layer of protection during ventilation failures, cooling interruptions, or unexpected room-temperature increases.
Delayed Automatic Restart
After a temperature-triggered shutdown, the controller can delay fixture restart for up to 30 minutes.
Available delay settings include 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 minutes, allowing time for room conditions to stabilize.
Independent Temperature Monitoring
Two included 16-foot temperature probes provide separate environmental readings for Zone A and Zone B.
The probes should be positioned near average canopy height and away from direct light, walls, or concentrated airflow for more representative measurements.
Real-Time Manual Control
Operators can override scheduled operation and adjust fixture output directly from the controller.
Real-time intensity changes are saved through the front-panel controls and applied to all compatible fixtures connected within the selected zone.
Daisy-Chain Installation
The controller connects to the first fixture in each zone using the included control cables.
Additional fixtures are linked through their Signal Out and Signal In ports using separately available PhotonTek control link cables.
Stored Settings During Power Loss
Programmed parameters, including time, date, temperature thresholds, and lighting schedules, remain saved if the controller loses power.
This allows operation to resume without rebuilding the complete configuration after a temporary interruption.
Clear Status Indicators
Front-panel indicator lights display fixture status and temperature-safety conditions.
The LEDs identify normal probe operation, disconnected sensors, active high-temperature dimming, and automatic shutdown conditions.
Compact Wall-Mount Design
The controller’s compact housing occupies very little wall space while keeping the display and controls easily accessible.
Included mounting screws allow it to be installed near the growing area while remaining protected from moisture, dust, and excessive heat.
3-Year Manufacturer Warranty
PhotonTek covers the Digital Lighting Controller with a 3-Year Manufacturer Warranty from the original purchase date.
The warranty applies to qualifying defects under normal operating conditions. Misuse, improper connections, unauthorized disassembly, moisture exposure, and connection to incompatible equipment are excluded.
