EZTRIM Plant Sorting Machine

The EZTRIM Plant Sorting Machine is a commercial post harvest sorting system designed to separate dried, trimmed plant material into consistent size grades quickly, gently, and accurately.

Its gravity fed design uses interchangeable sorting grates and soft food grade brushes rather than motors, vibration, or complex moving components. A single operator can process approximately 70 to 90 lbs per hour, making it a practical quality control and sizing station for higher volume botanical processing facilities.

The full size sorting platform can also be operated from both sides for increased throughput and converted into an additional work surface when sorting is complete.

High Capacity Commercial Sorting

The system is designed to process more than one pound of dried finished plant material per minute, with typical commercial throughput reaching approximately 70 to 90 lbs per hour.

This helps reduce the labor and time required for manual grading while creating more consistent material sizing before final quality control and packaging.

Five Size Sorting System

Five interchangeable grates separate harvested material according to physical size.

Standard grate openings include:

• 1/4"
• 1/2"
• 3/4"
• 1"
• 1 1/4"

Custom grates can also be produced in 1/8" increments for operations requiring different grading specifications.

Gentle Gravity Fed Design

Unlike powered sorting equipment, the EZTRIM sorter contains no vibration system or mechanical material handling components. Material moves across the grates using gravity and soft food grade brushes, helping minimize unnecessary agitation during sorting.

No Moving Parts

The simple mechanical design contains no sorting motors, belts, or vibrating assemblies. This reduces maintenance requirements and eliminates many common mechanical failure points found in powered sorting systems.

Soft Food Grade Brushes

Operators use soft brushes to gently guide processed material across each grate. Smaller pieces pass through the appropriate opening while larger material continues across the sorting surface.

Dual Side Operation

For applications focused primarily on separating smaller material, operators can work from both sides simultaneously. Placing 1/4" and 1/2" grates on both sides allows material to be moved toward the center collection area while increasing overall sorting productivity.

Integrated Collection System

Five large 27 gallon containers sit below the sorting grates to collect each separated material grade as it passes through the system. This keeps sorted categories organized and ready for subsequent quality control, processing, or packaging.

Converts Into a Work Surface

When sorting is complete, the lower shelf can be positioned on top of the machine to create an additional work surface. This allows the equipment to remain useful as part of the processing room even when active grading is not required.

Food Grade Contact Materials

Material contact surfaces are constructed from food grade aluminum and stainless steel, while the included collection containers are made from HDPE.

Recommended Operating Practices

• Read the complete owner’s manual before operating.
• Position the machine on a stable, level floor.
• Confirm all five grates and collection containers are correctly seated before use.
• Select grate sizes appropriate to the desired grading specification.
• Load only properly dried and trimmed material onto the sorting surface.
• Use the soft food grade brushes to guide material gently across each grate.
• Avoid forcing material through grate openings by hand.
• Monitor collection containers and empty them before they overflow.
• Clean the system between different batches or material types as needed.

Choosing Grate Sizes

Select the combination of grates that matches your desired final size grades. Facilities grading for a specific number of categories can position grates from largest to smallest opening, while operations focused on isolating fine material can configure both sides with smaller grates using the dual side operation method.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Routine cleaning is straightforward due to the lack of powered sorting components.

For regular maintenance:

• Remove remaining plant material from the grates and containers.
• Wipe surfaces with denatured alcohol and a clean rag.
• A pressure washer may be used for a quick rinse where appropriate.
• Allow components to dry completely before returning the system to service.

Grate Inspection

• Inspect each grate opening for buildup or blockage before use.
• Check grates for bending or deformation that could affect sorting accuracy.
• Confirm grates are securely seated in their designated positions.
• Replace damaged grates with approved EZTRIM replacements.

Collection Container Care

• Empty containers regularly during operation.
• Clean HDPE containers with mild soap and water when needed.
• Inspect containers for cracks or damage.
• Allow containers to dry fully before reinstalling.

Storage

• Clean and dry the machine before extended storage.
• Remove and clean all grates and collection containers.
• Store indoors in a dry environment.
• Convert to the work surface configuration if the equipment will remain in place between uses.
